Healthy Raw Papaya Mallum, a nutritious low calorie side dish
Raw Papaya Mallum is a healthy low calorie nutritious side dish. It has many vitamins and antioxidants to help detoxify and reduce body heatyness. This is as tasty as a Kos Mallum and very simple to prepare with only a few ingredients.
Ingredients
- Half ripened Papaya
- Some Coriander Seeds
- Some Mustard Seeds
- 1.5 tsp of Black Pepper
- 3 Shallots
- 4 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Green Chili
- 4 Nai Miris
- Some Curry Leaves
- Handful of grated Coconut
- Some Turmeric Powder
- Salt
Instructions
For the Coconut Mixture
- Add some Coriander Seeds.
- Add some Mustard Seeds.
- Add 1.5 tsp of Black Pepper.
- Add 3 Shallots.
- Add 4 Garlic Cloves that is cut in half with the skin removed.
- Add 1 Green Chili.
- Add 4 Nai Miris.
- Some Curry Leaves.
- Add a handful of grated Coconut.
- Add some Turmeric Powder.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Now blend this mixture coarsely.
Final Steps for the Papaya Mallum
- Wash the half ripened Papaya and remove the skin.
- Wash the Papaya again to remove any sap.
- Cut the Papaya into wedges.
- Remove the seeds.
- Thinly slice the wedges from the sides.

Add the pieces into a pot with Water and half boil it.
- When the Papaya is done half boiling, drain the Water.
- Add the Coconut mixture into the pot with the Papaya.
- Cover with a lid and cook for 10 more minutes over low heat.
- After cooking, use a Coconut Ladle's handle end to stir everything together.
