How to make a Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Curry

Have you tried eating Pineapple this way? This Pineapple Curry is sweet, spicy, and tangy. This is one of the best curries you can make if you are eating Yellow Rice, Nasi Goreng, or Fried Rice.

Ingredients

For the Masala Paste

  • 1 tbsp of Dhal Gram
  • 6 dried Chilies
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • Some Curry Leaves
  • Some Cumin Seeds
  • Handful of grated Coconut
  • Some Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Shallot

For the Pineapple Curry

  • 1 Pineapple
  • 1 tbsp of Chili Powder
  • Some Turmeric Powder
  • Some toasted Fenugreek Seeds
  • 1 tsp of Pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Roasted Curry Powder
  • Salt
  • 1 Pandan Leaf (Rampe)
  • Some Curry Leaves
  • Some Green Chilies
  • Half an Onion
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Shallot
  • Some Curry Leaves
  • Some Mustard Seeds
  • Some dried Chilies
  • Some Tamarind Seeds
  • 1 tbsp of Sugar

Instructions

For the Masala Paste

  1. Heat some Oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add 1 tbsp of Dhal Gram.
  3. Add 6 dried Chilies.
  4. Add 2 crushed Garlic Cloves with the Skin on.
  5. Add some Curry Leaves.
  6. Add some Cumin Seeds.
  7. Add a handful of grated Coconut.
  8. Sautee it over medium heat.
  9. Turn the stove off and take the saucepan off the stove.
  10. Add some Sesame Seeds.
  11. Add 1 thinly sliced Shallot.
  12. Mix thoroughly and let this mixture cool down.
  13. Blend the mixture into a powder.
  14. Now add some Water to the blender and blend it again.

For the Pineapple Curry

  1. Remove the peel from 1 Pineapple.
  2. Remove the outer layers of the Pineapple until all of the black dots are gone.
  3. Remove the core of the Pineapple.
  4. Now cut the Pineapple into small wedges.
  5. Cut each of the wedges into small pieces.
  6. Add these pieces into a bowl.
  7. Add 1 tbsp of Chili Powder.
  8. Add some Turmeric Powder.
  9. Add some toasted Fenugreek Seeds.
  10. Add 1 tsp of Pepper.
  11. Add 1 tbsp of Roasted Curry Powder.
  12. Add Salt to taste.
  13. Add 1 Pandan Leaf (Rampe) broken into smaller pieces.
  14. Add some Curry Leaves.
  15. Add some sliced Green Chilies.
  16. Add half an Onion thinly sliced.
  17. Heat some Oil in a saucepan.
  18. Add 3 crushed Garlic Cloves.
  19. Add 1 thinly sliced Shallot.
  20. Add some Curry Leaves.
  21. Add some Mustard Seeds.
  22. Add some dried Chilies broken into pieces by hand.
  23. Lightly fry this mixture while stirring.
  24. Now add the Pineapple pieces into the saucepan over low heat.
  25. Mix thoroughly and then raise the temperature to medium heat.
  26. After it cooks for a while, mix the Tamarind Seeds in some Water to extract and add the juice.
  27. Add 1 tbsp of Sugar.
  28. Now add the Masala paste we made earlier.
  29. Continue cooking over medium heat and mix everything together thoroughly.
  30. Once the Pineapple Curry has thickened, it is ready.
