Crispy Soya Nugget Recipe for a Teatime Snack
Soya Meat is very popular in Sri Lanka so we're going to make a Soya meat snack recipe. This is a tasty recipe for people who don't eat fish or meat. These Soya Nuggets can be stored for some time and then fried and eaten as needed.
Ingredients
- Half a packet of Soya Meat (we will not be using the seasoning packet)
- 1 chopped Onion
- Some crushed Ginger and some crushed Garlic Cloves blended into a paste
- 1 thinly sliced Green Chili
- some Curry Leaves
- 1 tsp of Pepper
- 1 tbsp of Chili Flakes
- some Cumin Seeds
- 1 boiled Potato that is then mashed
- Handful of All Purpose Flour
- Salt
- 1 tbsp of Corn Flour
- Some Breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Add half a packet of Soya Meat into a bowl.
- Add Hot Water until all of the Soya Meat is covered
- set it aside covered for about 2 to 3 minutes
- Now wash the Soya Meat thoroughly
- Squeeze any excess Water out of it
- Add the Soya Meat to a blender and blend it
- Heat some Oil in a saucepan
- Add a chopped Onion
- Add some crushed Ginger and some crushed Garlic Cloves
- Add a thinly sliced Green Chili
- Add some Curry Leaves
- Under medium heat, mix everything together thoroughly.
- Add 1 tsp of Pepper
- Add 1 tbsp of Chili Flakes
- Add some Cumin Seeds
- Now add the blended Soya Meat
- Add 1 boiled Potato that is then mashed.
- Mix everything thoroughly and then turn off the stove.
- Add the mixture into a bowl

Add a handful of All Purpose Flour.
- Mix everything together thoroughly and set it aside.
- Add 1 cup of Breadcrumbs into a bowl
- Add some Salt to taste
- Add 1 tbsp of Corn Flour

While adding Water slowly, mix and form a paste.
- Scoop some of the filling we made earlier into your hand and then using your hand shape the mixture into a square shape.
- Then take each piece and dip it in the coating and some breadcrumbs.
- Deep fry each piece until it turns a golden color.
