Chapati is an Indian flatbread roti made from a soft dough. In this recipe, we add the Chapati to a Chili Curry so it is soft and spicy. This is a tasty meal you can make in about 30 minutes.

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

For the Chapati

  • 500g of All Purpose Flour
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp of Coconut Oil

For the Chili Curry

Instructions

For the Chapati

  1. Add 500g of All Purpose Flour into a bowl.
  2. Add some Salt.
  3. Add 2 tbsp of Coconut Oil.
  4. Mix the ingredients together using your hands.
  5. Add Water, a little at a time, while mixing and forming the dough.
  6. Knead the dough for about 5 to 6 minutes until you have a soft dough.
  7. Rub some Coconut Oil around the dough (this will prevent it from drying).
  8. Set this dough aside for about 15 minutes.
  9. After letting the dough rest, break pieces of the dough into balls.
  10. Coat both sides of each dough ball and then flatten it thin with a rolling pin evenly (make sure to flatten the edges).
  11. Heat some Oil in a saucepan.
  12. Add the Chapati and cook.
  13. When the Chapati starts forming bubbles, remove it from the pan and put the other side on top of the stove top burner grates over high heat and cook it.
  14. Now fold the Chapati into quarters and then slice it.

For the Chili Curry

  1. Heat some Oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add some of the diced Onions.
  3. Blend some Ginger and Garlic into a paste.
  4. Add some of the Ginger and Garlic paste.
  5. Now add the rest of the diced Onions.
  6. Add some Curry Leaves.
  7. Add some sliced Green Chilies.
  8. Stir frequently and lightly fry everything.
  9. Now add 2 diced Tomatoes.
  10. Add the rest of the Ginger and Garlic paste.
  11. Add Salt to taste.
  12. Add 1.5 tbsp of Chili Powder.
  13. Add some Turmeric Powder.
  14. Add 1 tsp of Garam Masala (or Roasted Curry Powder).
  15. Add a little bit of Water.
  16. Turn the stove down to low heat and stir everything together.
  17. Add the Chicken Curry Gravy.
  18. Now add the sliced Chapati into the Curry and mix thoroughly using two spoons.
