Breadfruit Rice (Del Batha) is a traditional dish originating from the Southern region of Sri Lanka. It is a dish where Breadfruit and Rice are cooked together with spices in one pot. It makes a complete meal and it pairs very well with a Fish Curry or Chili Paste. You can make this quickly and easily using only a few basic ingredients.

Breadfruit was not native to Sri Lanka. It was brought into Sri Lanka by the Dutch about 300 years ago and is now grown over many regions. Normally when people eat Breadfruit, they eat it as a separate curry or side dish. In this Breadfruit Rice, everything is combined together to save time.
