Mouth Watering Pani Puri recipe with Chutney and Potato Masala
Pani Puri is a crispy puffed flatbread that is stuffed with condiments like Potato Masala, Tamarind Chutney, and Mint Water and then eaten in one bite. It is a popular street food snack originating from India. Pani Puri is also known as Gol Gappa.

Ingredients
Pani Puri
- 250g of Semolina Flour
- 3 tbsp of All Purpose Flour
- Salt
Potato Masala
- 4 small Potatoes
- 2 crushed Garlic Cloves
- 1 chopped Onion
- Thinly sliced Green Chili
- Curry Leaves
- Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp of Chili Flakes
- Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp of Pepper
- Half a tsp of Garam Masala Powder
- Coriander Leaves
Tamarind Chutney
- 10 to 12 Tamarind Seeds
- 5 to 6 Dates
- 2 tbsp of grated Jaggery
- Salt
- Half a tbsp of Chili Powder
Mint Water
- Mint Leaves
- A piece of Ginger
- 2 Green Chilies
- Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp of Pepper
- Salt
- Lime or Lemon
Instructions
Pani Puri
- Add 250g of Semolina Flour into a bowl.
- Add 3 tbsp of All Purpose Flour.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Mix everything together thoroughly using your hands.
- While adding lukewarm Water, a little at a time, mix and form the dough.
- Cover the bowl with a wet kitchen towel and set it aside for about 10 minutes.
- Rub some Oil on a preparation board.
- Take the dough and roll it into a ball on top of the preparation board.

Now use a rolling pin and flatten the dough thin.
- Using a jar lid, cut the dough into circles.
- Deep fry both sides of the dough circles until it is golden colored and puffed up.
Potato Masala
- Boil 4 small Potatoes and then let it cool down.
- Peel the 4 Potatoes.
- Mash the Potatoes into smaller pieces using your hands.
- Heat some Oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add 2 crushed Garlic Cloves.
- Add a little bit of the chopped Onion.
- Add a thinly sliced Green Chili.
- Add some Curry Leaves.
- Add the remaining chopped Onion.
- Stir frequently until it is lightly sauteed.
- Add some Cumin Seeds.
- Add 1 tsp of Chili Flakes.
- Add some Turmeric Powder.
- Add 1 tsp of Pepper.
- Add half a tsp of Garam Masala Powder.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Stir frequently until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Add the Potatoes.
- You can mix some Coriander Leaves if you want (optional).
- Mix thoroughly.
Tamarind Chutney
- Squeeze the juice from 10 to 12 Tamarind Seeds into a saucepan.
- Add 5 to 6 Dates.
- Add 2 tbsp of grated Jaggery.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Add half a tbsp of Chili Powder.
- Put the saucepan on the stove over low heat.
- Stir frequently until this mixture is heated.
- Turn off the stove and let this mixture cool down.
- Add the mixture into a blender.
- Blend into a slightly thick paste.
Mint Water
- Add some Mint Leaves into a blender.
- Add a piece of Ginger.
- Add 2 Green Chilies.
- Add some Cumin Seeds.
- Add 1 tsp of Pepper.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Add enough Water as required.
- Blend this mixture and then add into a bowl through a sieve.
- Squeeze some of the juice from a Lime or Lemon and stir the Mint Water thoroughly.
