Spicy Mee Goreng Noodles Recipe
Mee Goreng (also called Mi Goreng and Indonesian Fried Noodles) is a widely enjoyed street food made with Egg Noodles that are stir fried with a variety of vegetables such as Carrots, Cabbage, and Bean Sprouts and proteins such as Chicken, Shrimp, and Beef. It is flavored with spices, Soy Sauce, Tomato Sauce, and Chili Sauce. Although Mee Goreng originated from Indonesia, it is also popular in Sri Lanka and incorporates its own twist on it by including local spices and condiments such as Curry Leaves and Green Chilies.

Ingredients
- 250 of Chicken
- 250g of Prawns
- 150g of Egg Noodles
- 3 Eggs
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sesame Oil
- 2 tbsp of Butter
- Chopped Onion
- Sliced Green Chili
- 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce.
- 2 tbsp of Oyster Sauce.
- 2 tbsp of Tomato Sauce.
- 2 tbsp of Chili Paste.
- 1 tbsp of Sugar.
- Shredded Carrot
- Shredded Cabbage
- Curry Leaves
- Sliced Capsicums
- Sliced Green Onions
Instructions
- Wash and clean 250g of Chicken and 250g of Prawns.
- Add some Salt and Pepper to the Chicken and Prawns and mix together.
- Fry the Chicken and Prawns.
- Now add Water into a pot.
- Salt the Water.
- Add 150g of Egg Noodles into the pot.
- Bring to a boil.
- After boiling, add the Noodles into a colander and drain any Water.
- Now break open 2 Eggs into a bowl.
- Add a pinch of Pepper.
- Add a pinch of Salt.
- Whisk the Egg mixture.
- Heat some Oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Pour the Egg mixture in and cook.
- When the Omelette is firm, fold about 3 times into one side.
- Remove the folded omelette and then cut it into strips.
- Now heat some Sesame Oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add 2 tbsp of Butter.
- When the Butter has melted, add 3 chopped Garlic Cloves.
- Add a chopped Onion.
- Add a sliced Green Chili.
- Lightly fry these ingredients together.
- Now turn off the stove.
- Add 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce.
- Add 2 tbsp of Oyster Sauce.
- Add 2 tbsp of Tomato Sauce.
- Add 2 tbsp of Chili Paste.
- Add 1 tbsp of Sugar.
- Add a pinch of Salt to taste.
- Mix these ingredients together thoroughly.
- Now add the Noodles.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Move the noodles into one side of the saucepan.
- Add a shredded Carrot to the other side of the saucepan.
- Add some shredded Cabbage.
- Add some Curry Leaves.
- Add some sliced Capsicums.
- Now turn on the stove to low heat.
- Add the Chicken and Prawns.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Now add the strips of Omelette and mix thoroughly.
- Add some sliced Green Onions.
- When serving, add a fried Omelette on top.
