How to make Sago Biscuits without an Oven

Sago Biscuits are a popular type of biscuits made of Sago and Coconut. It has a unique crispy texture due to this combination. This recipe does not require any baking so it is very simple to prepare on the stove top.

Ingredients

  • 250g of Sago
  • 1 tsp of Cumin Seeds
  • 2 handfuls of shredded Coconut
  • 250g of All Purpose Flour (you can use powdered Biscuits alternatively)
  • 200g of Sugar
  • 1 tbsp of Butter (optional)
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Toast 250g of Sago in a saucepan.
  2. When the color has slightly changed, we will take it off the stove.
  3. Now add the Sago to it.
  4. Add 250g of All Purpose Flour.
  5. Add 200g of Sugar.
  6. Optional: Add about 1 tbsp of Butter.
  7. Add Salt to taste.
  8. Mix everything together thoroughly.
  9. While mixing by hand, add Water slowly.
  10. Add enough Water slowly and mix thoroughly until you can form a ball of dough in your hand. That is the consistency you want.
  11. The next step is to flatten the dough by hand into a large circle shape.
  12. Now heat up a saucepan under medium heat.
  13. Add parchment paper to the saucepan (you can cut it to fit the saucepan).
  14. Use a lid from a jar to cut the Sago dough into circles.
  15. Under the lowest heat, add each Sago biscuit and cook both sides.
